This research paper examines the advantages of premium economy servers (PES) as compared to their higher-priced counterparts. In a recent DARTS (Demand Assessment Requirements Tracking Survey), 90% of 300 CIOs said they are standardizing on one to two specific server hardware platforms for future purchases and uses. Sixty percent of these same CIOs stated they have an active program with concentrated effort to optimize costs by using commodity blades and servers.
